A BITE

He lies sprawled next to the beehive, his hat down over his eyes, when we enter. The children watch him in complete silence. Then he adjusts his hat and looks at them with one eye. Silently. We are going to see a play, the children whisper – and thus imply that he is quite in the way there in the middle of the stage. He sits up, pushes his hat back on his neck, looks at them. Slowly he gets to his feet, the children hold their breath: He is walking, right? No, he opens the flyboard to the beehive, takes out water and a wash basin, washes and shaves slowly, while the children watch and little by little comment on the washing and shaving. A monologue performance develops into an intense dialogue performance. Children’s theatre at its best.

Note: The performance is in Danish
